Brownwood Regional Airport is a general aviation
airport located in central Texas formerly with an essential air service
route to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. The Master Plan presented
forecasts for the return of commercial air service as well as increased
general aviation activity. During the term of the Master Plan the airport
was forecast to transition from a design aircraft represented by turboprop
aircraft to larger cabin-class business jets. To accommodate the larger
aircraft, a runway extension was proposed along with improvements to the
Runway Safety Area. The landside plan proposed an airfield accessible
business park and new aircraft storage facilities including T-hangars,
conventional hangars, and executive hangars. Regular military training
exercises by the 21st Calvary Brigade utilizing Apache and Blackhawk
helicopters was also considered in the Master Plan.
