Chandler Municipal Airport is located in a rapidly
developing area of suburban Phoenix. This Airport is used frequently by
both fixed wing and helicopter training organizations as well a growing
number corporate jet operators. A major focus of this study was the
location and routing of helicopter activities. The helicopter training
facilities were recommended for relocation to the opposite side of the
airfield and adjustments to the current helicopter routes were suggested.
Land use planning recommendations included adopting development review and
building code guidelines, general plan amendments, and airport overlay
zoning.
