Lone Star Executive Airport is located in Conroe, Texas
and serves as a reliever airport to the Houston metropolitan area. Due to
the northward growth of the City of Houston, the airport has experienced
significant growth over the last decade and sought to update the 1992
airport master plan to address the increased demand. The airport’s
primary runway measures 6,000 feet, but this length falls short of the
demands of larger corporate aircraft. The recommended development plan
includes enhancing facilities to better serve corporate aviation, while
also providing ample facilities and services for smaller general aviation
aircraft. As a result, the plan recommends the construction of an airport
traffic control tower, extension of the primary runway to at least 7,500
feet, extension of the crosswind runway to 5,000 feet, and the ultimate
construction of a parallel, small aircraft only runway designed to enhance
airport capacity.
