Grayson County Airport lies approximately 60 miles north of
the DFW Metroplex, adjacent both Sherman and Denison, Texas. Originally
operated as Perrin Air Force Base, Grayson County Airport now provides
substantial facilities for general aviation. The airport has a 9,000-foot
by 150-foot runway capable of accommodating all general aviation aircraft
and could potentially serve as a cargo airport. The airport is afforded
excellent regional surface transportation networks with re-configured State
Highway 289 running parallel and west of the airport. Currently, all facilities
are located on the east-side of the airport, however, future planning is
considering the development of cargo and other industrial facilities on
the west-side of the airport. As a result, the plan will provide Grayson
County with a detailed plan for developing both aviation and non-aviation
revenue sources.
