In 2003, Coffman Associates was retained to update the master plan for
a third consecutive time along with conducting the airport's first Part
150 Noise Compatibility Study. Focus during this master plan was on
preparations to accommodate the regional jet. This included providing
full justification for the runway extension planned previously, as well
as planning for the traffic increases that will be generated by the use
of jets in commercial passenger service. Plans for the direction of the
terminal expansion, future air cargo demand, and general aviation
growth were updated, and a layout for the east side of the airport was
developed.
