  • Glendale Municipal Airport

Glendale Municipal Airport is located in the west Phoenix area. This general aviation reliever airport experiences more than 150,000 annual operations. Coffman Associates has been associated with planning for the airport since participating in the original airport feasibility and site selection study in 1982. Currently, the airport is experiencing unprecedented growth in business jet activity which is leading the airport to plan to meet more restrictive design standards for the runway environment. The airport is constrained from adding needed runway length by Glendale Avenue to the north and the New River channel to the south. The Master Plan identified a method for the airport to gain much needed usable runway, without major road relocation. Planned arresting systems at both runway ends provide the requisite runway safety area. Through active planning, the airport has been able to maximize their hangar development areas. The airport currently houses 350 based aircraft and has the landside capacity to accommodate more than 700 based aircraft.
