Freeman Field is located on the north side of
Junction City, Kansas.Ê The airport had not received federal funding for
improvements for over 30 years.Ê Working with the City’s Airport
Committee, Coffman Associates developed a plan to allow the airport to
better serve turboprops and small jet aircraft.Ê The proposed new primary
4,100 foot runway will also reduce taxi distances from the hangar area,
thus allowing that area to continue to develop and grow.Ê It also will
provide more separation between the runway thresholds and nearby
residential areas.
