The airport is at the far edge of the metropolitan area in largely compatible surroundings. Urban development pressure, however, is increasing. The study focused on long-range land use planning and regulation to preserve compatible area. Noise overlay zoning and amendments to special KCI planned development zoning district were recommended. A second area of emphasis was the development of noise contours for long-range runway development alternatives. Land use planning policies were recommended to preserve compatible land use under the noise contours off the potential future runway.
