The Lincoln Airport is the second largest airport in the
State of Nebraska with annual enplanements over 250,000 passengers.
The military presence at the airport consists of the Nebraska Air National
Guard, which operates KC-135 refueling aircraft, and the Nebraska Army
National Guard, which operates Blackhawk helicopters. Changes
in the aviation industry and local military unit missions have reduced
the noise exposure contours significantly, but not aircraft noise complaints.
Development pressure south of the airport along the primary departure corridor
is also a major concern being addressed in the Part 150 Study through
overlay zoning and subdivision regulations.
