Phoenix Goodyear Airport is a general aviation airport on the west side
of the Phoenix Metropolitan area that is in the path of major
population and economic growth. The airport is also home to a large
aircraft maintenance business that services aircraft up to and
including Boeing 747’s. Airside planning included development of a
parallel runway to provide capacity relief and to better separate
single engine aircraft from the larger aircraft. The landside
development further separated business jet facilities from smaller
aircraft facilities. A corporate aviation center was planned for the
north side of the airport to provide a synergy with the City Center
development being undertaken by the City of Goodyear. This airport is
an EPA Superfund cleanup site and the Master Plan development phasing
was coordinated with the cleanup process.
