While overall noise levels at Riverside are small compared
to many airports, the dense, close-in residential development is responsible
for many local concerns about aircraft noise. Key recommendations of the
Plan included an endorsement of a helicopter traffic pattern to minimize
noise over residential areas, the relocation of some pre-flight engine
run-ups, and a noise barrier to shield a close-in neighborhood from noise
caused by pre-flight run-ups and the initial application of take-off thrust.
