  • Southern California Logistics Airport

The former George Air Force Base was decommissioned in the 1990’s costing thousands of jobs in Victor Valley on the California high desert. A reuse plan was prepared and the Victor Valley Airport Authority took charge of the airport. The facility initially began to redevelop under the recommendations of the reuse plan primarily serving large aircraft maintenance and modification companies. The Airport Authority worked with a developer to redevelop the non-aviation properties, but a more aviation-specific master plan was needed to ensure that the long range viability of the facility was maintained. Coffman Associates recently prepared the airport’s first master plan that examined all the aviation opportunities at the airport, establishing locations first-class general aviation, air cargo, and commercial service, as well as the maintenance industry. The airfield was planned with upgrades for both safety and efficiency to carry the facility into the future.
