  • MBS International Airport

MBS International Airport is the commercial service airport for the counties of Midland, Bay, and Saginaw, in the east central portion of lower Michigan. Employment in the area is concentrated in manufacturing, with automotive, chemical, and plastics the predominant product businesses. The airport is under the administration of the MBS International Airport Commission, which is represented by the cities of Midland and Saginaw, along with Bay County. In examining the future capabilities of the airport to meet traffic demands, specific attention was paid to the terminal facilities, which have become dated and are not easily expanded to meet future demands. A primary recommendation of the master plan was to pursue development of a new terminal facility in a more centralized location on the airfield, with better roadway access for users from the tri-county area. A program was established to phase the development of infrastructure and facilities over the next ten-year period, although the program can be accelerated if passenger traffic warrants.
