The capital city of New Mexico, Santa Fe attracts a
variety of business, government, and tourist traffic. The Santa Fe
Municipal Airport provides both commuter and general aviation access to the
area. Key development issues included runway and taxiway development,
terminal and parking, general aviation development, and F.A.R. Part 139
requirements. The master plan was developed as a demand-based plan that
could respond to the future aviation needs of the community, while being
fiscally responsible and sensitive to airport neighbors. Airfield
recommendations focused on safety and the Part 139 requirements. Terminal
recommendations provided for improvements to the existing terminal as well
as parking and circulation. General aviation plans allowed for areas to
develop new hangars. The plan also coordinated with plans for an airport
industrial park.
