Cherry Capital Airport serves the northwestern region of Michigan as a primary commercial service airport. Having recently completed a new commercial airline terminal complex on the south side of the airport, a redevelopment plan for the former airline complex and defined areas for future general aviation and air cargo were goals of the study. Completed over a one-year period, the plan provides the Northwestern Regional Airport Commission with a $70 million program for future redevelopment and expansion to meet growing airline, general aviation, and air cargo needs. Noise compatibility and environmental components were included in the plan.
