Mid Valley Airport is located in the City of Weslaco just eight
miles north of the U.S.-Mexico border. The airport serves general aviation
activity in the thriving Rio Grande Valley region. The Valley is served
by three commercial service airports which have become limited in general
aviation facilities. Mid Valley has experienced general aviation aircraft
growth due to limitations at these airports and is now in need of hangar
facilities to meet based aircraft growth. The Airport Master Plan has provided
recommendations for extending the airport's only runway to 6,000 feet to
better serve the corporate aircraft currently utilizing the runway. The
plan also includes a new landside development scheme which maximizes available
spaces to meet future aircraft hangar and aircraft apron construction.
