The Des Moines International Airport is the largest airport in the State of Iowa with annual enplanements over 963,000 passengers. The military presence at the airport consists of the Iowa National Guard, which operates which operates F-16 aircraft. Changes in the aviation industry and local military unit missions have reduced the noise exposure contours, but not aircraft noise complaints. Development pressure around the airport continues to be a concern.
