  • Lawton-Ft. Sill Regional Airport

Lawton-Fort Sill Regional Airport lies approximately 60 miles southwest of the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. The airport serves the dynamic role of providing commercial passenger and cargo service as well as serving general aviation and an array of military aircraft operations. The airport has a 8,600-foot by 150-foot runway capable of accommodating all existing aircraft operations at the airport, including large transport aircraft in support of Fort Sill troop and equipment deployments. A significant portion of the study focused on the examination of existing and future air carrier potential. The study concluded that the airport could support at least two and up to three airlines with connections to hubs to the south, east, and west. In order to support this activity, however, the study concluded that the aging terminal facility would require substantial improvement. The plan called for expanding and remodeling the facility to meet passenger and baggage transfer as well as increased security needs. Currently, all facilities are located on the east-side of the airport, however, future planning is considering the development of aviation as well as non-aviation industrial facilities on the west and northeast quadrants of the airport. As a result, the plan will provide the Lawton Area Metropolitan Airport Authority with a detailed business plan for developing both aviation and non-aviation revenue sources.
