The New Century AirCenter is a reliever general aviation facility in
the Kansas City area. The airport supports is one of the most
successful airport industrial parks in the country. There are
over 35 businesses on airport property, encompassing over 3 million
square feet of space, and employing over 4,000 people. As a truly
multi-modal facility the airport also operates a three mile rail system
that moves over 2,000 rail cars annually. The long term plan
identified a need for a third runway to support extensive training
operations, property acquisition to protect the airport from
encroachment, and extensive hangar construction.
